What is the development of colored cotton?

Although the research and development of Chinese colored cotton started relatively late, it has developed rapidly. China has become a natural producer of colored cotton in the world, and the colored cotton industry has become a competitive new growth point for China's cotton textile industry. From 1998 to 2007, the planting area of natural colored cotton in China expanded from 10000 mu per year to over 200000 mu per year, and the lint production increased from 800 tons per year to over 20000 tons per year. Over the past 10 years, the planting area and lint production of colored cotton increased by 20 and 25 times, respectively. Colored cotton cultivation is widespread in cotton producing areas such as Xinjiang, Gansu, Hunan, Anhui, Sichuan, Shanxi, and Zhejiang. Xinjiang's natural colored cotton production accounts for about 95% of the total domestic colored cotton production and about 50% of the world's colored cotton production. It has become an important production, processing, and supply base for natural colored cotton in China and even the world.

Compared with ordinary cotton, natural colored cotton has the characteristics of natural softness, antique elegance, and soft texture, and the fiber color can gradually deepen after washing. Textiles made from colored cotton do not require chemical dyeing and will not cause pollution to land or water sources during the processing and production process. Textiles do not contain harmful substances such as formaldehyde and azo dyes, and have anti-static and anti itching functions. They are truly "green products", known as "ecological clothing" and "plant cashmere". They are a new type of textile raw material that meets the requirements of protecting the living environment and achieving sustainable development of people around the world, and conforms to the trend of people's pursuit of fashion, environmental protection, and health.
